Public Utility District No. 1 of Pend Oreille County

System Operator

The District is seeking a qualified System Operator to monitor and conduct reliable transmission, distribution, and generation operations of the interconnected Pend Oreille County PUD #1 (District) system in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local rules and regulations. The District System Operators primarily perform distribution dispatching tasks, directing line crews, addressing customer calls for service and perform real-time sales and purchases of electric power.

Qualified Applicants Must Have:

  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and all applicable Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA) regulations.

  • North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Certification as either a Transmission Operator, Balancing Interchange & Transmission Operator, or a Reliability Coordinator Operator is preferred, but not required for this position.

  • Proven experience in operating a Utility Distribution or Transmission System as a Dispatcher or System Operator.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in an isolated work environment.

  • Able to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

  • Must be able to pass a security background check to work in a security sensitive area.

This is a journeyman level, union position at our Newport Administration offices in Newport, WA.
