Public Power Week is a nationwide celebration recognizing community-owned utilities and the benefits they bring to the people they serve.
Pend Oreille PUD is proud to take part once again in 2026, especially as we celebrate 90 years of providing locally owned and governed electric, water, broadband, and clean hydropower services across Pend Oreille County.
To mark the occasion, customers and community members are invited to Pops, Brats & Kilowatts, a free community event with food, drinks, games, and activities. Read more about the event here.
The event will be held twice during Public Power Week:
Newport: Monday, October 5, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the PUD Administration Building.
Box Canyon Dam: Thursday, October 8, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Box Canyon Visitor Center parking lot.
Both events will include fire-safety booths from local fire districts and a special historical display from the Pend Oreille County Historical Society, showcasing the PUD’s nine decades of service.
Free coffee, cookies, and cocoa will also be available at PUD offices throughout Public Power Week, which runs from October 4 -10
